Dr Joshua Sevao

Dr Joshua Sevao is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in the hand, wrist and associated nerve conditions. He currently works in public practice and private practice across Auckland.

Josh is a proud Samoan New Zealander, born and raised in South Auckland. He attended the University of Auckland Medical School, graduating in 2009.

Josh worked in the Auckland district hospitals after finishing medical school, and after being accepted onto the Orthopaedic Surgical Training scheme, trained in Whangarei and Waikato hospitals. In 2011, Josh was awarded the Junior Doctor of the Year Award by the Confederation of Post Graduate Medical Education Councils (CPMEC).

He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2018 after completing his Orthopaedics training. Josh then completed his subspecialist training in hand surgery at Gold Coast University Hospital, where he specialised in surgery of the hand, wrist and peripheral nerves, working with Professor Randy Bindra. He then furthered his experience in surgical centres across the United States and Europe.  He returned to New Zealand in early 2020.

In addition to his private practice, Auckland Hand Surgery, Josh is a Consultant at North Shore Hospital where he is the Deputy Clinical Director of Orthopaedics. He has a special interest in wrist arthroscopy and ultrasound-guided procedures. His current research interest is in distal radius morphology.

Married with two young boys, Josh enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf in his spare time.
